From Patensie it is 160 kilometers but allow for about 5 hours traveling time. Access from Patensie is only for 4x4 vehicles with high ground clearance.

Uitspan is accessible for off road caravans from the Willowmore side.

Camping Facilities

There are three shady campsites, all with 220V electricity, water and lights, with a large outside braai.

Braai packs and "Roosterkoek" are available to purchase.

For larger groups there is a large campsite in an old kraal.

Bed & Breakfast and Self Catering Chalets

A comfortable double bedroom as well as two self catering chalets are available for those who prefer not to stay in a tent. One chalet has a kitchen, lounge area, bathroom, one double bedroom as well as an upstairs bedroom with bunk beds. The veranda offers magnificent views over the dam and mountains.

 The other chalet is situated in Houtkloof and sleeps 2 persons with a fully equipped Kitchen, bathroom and braai area.

Eagles Rest - Restaurant & Sports Bar

A charming thatched lapa is available for the use of our guests. It comes complete with a licensed bar and an indoor braai as well as a pool table for evening relaxation. There is also a big screen television for those who do not want to miss out their sport or "Soapies".

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available upon request, but please book weekday meals in advance.

Homemade jams, roasted coffee, honey bush tea, biltong, dried fruit and ice are for sale.

Accesibility

As Baviaanskloof Uitspan is located towards the western end of the Baviaanskloof, it allows easy access to all types of vehicles from the Uniondale-Willowmore side.

Activities

Hiking

There are two hiking trails. The beautiful Houtkloof Trail that takes about an hour and a half to walk, with rockpools, magnificent examples of indigenous tree and plant life such as stinkwood, wild olive and wild fig. 

The Koepel Hiking Trail offers the opportunity to investigate interesting rock formations and overhangs and offer beautiful views.

Opportunities abound for bird watching and mountain climbing.

4X4 Route

A 4x4 route consiting of a number of circle routes offers lovely views.

For cooling off on hot summer days there is a dam for swimming and just for fun try the rope slide!

San Rock Art

For those interested in past cultures, there is San rock art to be seen in a nearby cave.
